Jasper ter Schegget
Jasper ter Schegget
Project lead for the Transition Makers Toolbox & educational developer at University of Amsterdam

With a background in Cognitive Science and a drive for transformative change, I train university teachers (STQ) and contribute to the Empowered Minds project, helping to embed affective learning into the degree programmes at the UvA. I design interdisciplinary education that encourages collaboration, critical reflection and real-world impact. I'm looking forward to introducing the Inner Development Goals in a wide range of contexts.

Janneke de Ruiter
Janneke de Ruiter
Programme leader transdisciplinary Leadership programme at Utrecht University & Educational advisor at EWUU alliance

My teaching focuses on adaptive leadership — helping people face tough challenges and grow through them. From that perspective, I got drawn to the Inner Development Goals, as they give us the inner skills to do that well, such as self-awareness, perspective-taking and courage. In my role as educational advisor, I enjoy being involved in transdisciplinary projects that combine educational innovation, diverse students and societal impact.

Gwenda Frederiks
Gwenda Frederiks
Educational advisor at UMC Utrecht

As an educational advisor, I collaborate with teachers to design transdisciplinary education that connects academic learning to real-world challenges. I believe universities have a responsibility to contribute to society by applying knowledge in meaningful ways. Our students are driven and full of potential — I want to equip them with the skills and insights to truly make a difference.

Madison Carr
Madison Carr
Behavioural neuroscientist and university teacher at University of Amsterdam

My teaching focuses on equipping future life scientists and psychobiology students with the skills they need to tackle complex societal challenges in their careers. I like to develop workshops and courses that put professional skills center stage, helping students prepare for real-world situations. As a core team member of the Transition Makers Toolbox, I enjoy collaborating with fellow educators to refine the learning activities for the Toolbox.

Pascal Frank
Pascal Frank
Assistant professor at Wageningen University & Research

In my research, I investigate how pedagogical approaches and activities to promote inner development for sustainability impact personal growth, as well as concrete methods for measuring their effectiveness. I examine the necessary conditions for successful implementation, such as the required skills of educators and the didactic design of educational programmes. As a former member of the scientific advisory board of the Inner Development Goals, I have contributed to shaping and applying the IDG framework in both research and education.

Belle Jansen
Belle Jansen
Project coordinator at the Teaching & Learning Centre at University of Amsterdam

As project coordinator of the Transition Makers Toolbox and two other educational innovation projects at the university, I bring people and ideas together. My background in human geography and communication science helps me translate complexity into practical, accessible tools that support changemakers working on real-world transitions.

Meet the Founders

Ilja Boor
Ilja Boor
Senior curriculum developer at the University of Amsterdam

I am driven to co-educate students who possess the ability to solve complex problems and shape societal transitions. This is not something that comes naturally, but it can be learned by practicing with the right teaching materials. For this toolbox, we designed educational materials in co-creation with educators from different universities. I am convinced that many more teachers than we know are already working on this. It is so valuable to form a community where we can exchange ideas and experiences. I have already experienced how inspiring and insightful it can be to work together in such a diverse group. I'd love to get in touch with you and learn from each other.

Former project lead education & strategic programme manager at the alliance TU/e, WUR, UU, UMC Utrecht

Community-engaged learning, challenge-based learning and societal impact education are different terms for teaching students to become future change-makers and providing them with the competencies and skills to work on societal transitions. As an education innovator, I develop this kind of education within the Eindhoven-Wageningen-Utrecht alliance. Many teachers and educational developers are looking for relevant tools for their education. This toolbox offers those teachers a community to connect and co-create, beyond the limits of their institute, which is exactly what this kind of education envisions. I truly believe in this practice-what-you-preach approach.
