Ulrike Scholtes

In addition to being a lecturer of the honours course “Feeling Science” and “The Body as Sensitive Research Instrument”, I coach art students in their artistic research process. In my research and teaching in arts and science, I work with body awareness as a skill to do research and engage otherwise with different kinds of worlds.

I have a background in and work in the intersection of science, art, and bodywork – yoga, somatic coaching and physical theatre training. I use techniques from different forms of bodywork to help students become aware of what makes them and their body specific, how this situates them in the world and how this enables specific forms of research and knowledge. The “Inside-Outside-Presence” tool can be used to train students to be aware of their body and their surroundings at the same time.
