After working in for-profit business environments, I switched professions to become a full-time lecturer and strive for a holistic view of business management in education, taking sustainability fully into account. Next to my regular teaching of business topics, I developed a training on “Education for Sustainable Development” for lecturers at universities of applied sciences.

I use this tool in my teaching of business management topics to first-year students to connect business to sustainable development.

I apply the ESD principles as much as feasible in my teaching, making incremental steps every year.

I like the learning activity on increasing the awareness of the complexity and impacts of global supply chains because every student can relate to it. Having an increased awareness stimulates changes in buying behavior.

It is my personal belief that adopting the Inner Development Goals will bring us further on the path of sustainable development than the SDG Agenda on its own.
