Academic education often assumes that students already have an open and learning mindset, while this is very much a capability that they need to develop. Especially when students are asked to be vulnerable and embrace feedback on their personal development. Positive Gossiping grants students an opportunity to reflect on their personal development.  

The Liberal Arts & Sciences Bachelor’s programme at Utrecht University offers students a wide array of options when it comes to their courses and majors. As a result, students have to make a lot of choices. Within the tutoring system, students are asked to reflect upon their personal and academic development. At the end of the first year, we ask the students to use an Interactive Reflections tool and present and discuss their personal development, instead of writing about it.
